The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong ,has apologised to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), John Kudalor, for insulting him.
Agyapong had accused the IGP of turning a blind eye to what he called violent attacks by supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on the residence of Nana Akufo-Addo, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) last week.
The MP has gone on to insult Mr Kudalor on national TV and called him an “asshole”.
Mr Agyapong, who faced criticism from some members of the public for his remarks, has now offered an apology to the IGP.
Speaking on Accra-based Oman FM in a sombre mood, he expressed deep regret for the remarks, which he said were made in the “heat of things”.
“I want to apologise to the IGP for the attacks on him…he is a friend from Tema but you know in the heat of things, such things can happen, so he should forgive me,” he said,
Agyapong said he had tried to offer the apology to the IGP on phone but had been unable to reach him.
