- Word started spreading out that a Malaysian man had married his pet snake
- Even newspapers published the story
- That made the “married guy” come out and tell his own story
- His “relationship” with the cobra had to do with his profession as firefighter
After multiple sites, social media posts and even newspapers published the story of a Malaysian firefighter who had supposedly married his pet snake, the guy in question had to personally come out and tell his own story…
Abu Zarin Hussin had posted numerous photos of himself accompanied by his pet snake in different settings: his home, watching TV, at the park, among other locations.
These pictures were used to start the rumor that he and the cobra were actually man and “wife”. The backstory to this strange news, was that Hussin believed the snake was his dead girlfriend, brought again to life. Even the Daily Mirror and Daily Mail published the story.
After word continued to spread around, Hussin decided to come forward to say he was NOT married to the cobra. He commented that he kept snakes “to better understand them, because they’re responsible for a lot of the call-outs”, during his duties as a firefighter.
Hussin likes to observe their behaviour, in order to be able to catch them more efficiently. He even said that he was training other firemen as well, on “how to handle and manage snakes”.
His idea is to release the animals into their natural habitat once they are caught. The Daily Mirror has since removed the story.
