The YEN.com.gh team will be working on LIVE-FACTCHECKING statements made by the participants of in the Presidential Debate organised by the Institute of Economic Affairs.
How do we do that?
We rely on a endless database of articles and statistics from credible organisations.
Jacob Osei Yeboah, an independent candidate in the 2016 election stated during the debate that unemployment is created when a graduate leaves university and doesn't find a job.
Whereas this statement is true to an extent, it doesn't cover all the various forms of unemployment and the many ways other people get unemployed.
JOY's statement doesn't take into consideration the unemployed people who do not belong to the educated group of unemployed people.
Unemployment is a phenomenon that occurs when a person who is actively searching for employment is unable to find work. It requires that situation where someone of working age is not able to get a job but would like to be in full time employment. Other forms of unemployed also occur when people are not employed at full capacity.
The above directly contrasts with JOY's claim.
