A woman from Baton Rouge, Louisiana was arrested after neighbors called police and said they saw extremely unhealthy looking children digging through the trash cans on the side yard.
When police arrive to 27-year-old Lakisha Connors’ house and knocked on the door found out that the house was “disgusting” and according to officers in the worst conditions they’ve ever seen.
The officers were received by three-year-old Amonte Connors and five-year-old Dante Connors who let them into the home.
Police chief Ronnie Hernandez said that when they entered the house, they found seven children who looked extremely malnourished and in addition to that there was a lock on the refrigerator and all nonperishable foods were locked in a huge wooden makeshift storage container in the mother’s bedroom.
While the poor children were at home the irresponsible mother was in church where she was confronted by authorities.
According to police, when they pulled her up off the couch and asked her to explain herself she said “There was only enough food for me!”
The 7 children, whose ages range from 1 to 11 years of age, were taken into protective custody by Child Protective Services.
