For all those who intend slaying in short outfits at this year’s Ghana Movie Awards, a memo has been sent to quench all of such intentions.
A new directive by the organisers of the annual awards show is going to restrict what patrons and guests can wear to the event on December 4.
Speaking on ‘Daybreak Hitz’ on Hitz FM, organiser of the Ghana Movie Awards, Fred Nuamah told host, KMJ that, “The prescribed attire for the awards is tuxedo or black tie for the men and evening/dinner gown for the ladies. No short dresses will be allowed.”
He also stated that, this year’s edition, which will be held at the Kempinski Hotel, will not accommodate a large number of patrons and very limited tickets will be put out on sale.
Commenting on the number of movies that were submitted, the CEO of the Awards revealed that, over 500 films were submitted, with many coming from the Northern and Ashanti Regions.

When asked if indeed the Ghana movie industry was dying out, Mr. Nuamah said,“The industry is not dying. The filmmakers are working. The issue is that, movies are not being released on DVDs anymore. This is happening in Hollywood too. They are sent to IROKO and Netflix and others,” he explained.
