The Alhaji Aliu Mahama Foundation has sent a word of warning to Ghana's Ambassador to Namibia and Bostwana, Alhaji Haruna Attah that he must stop his 'backwards backstabbing and betrayal' of the late Alhaji Aliu Mahama.
This is in response to the claims made by the former NPP executive who said that while he was in the New Patriotic Party, he was discriminated against, because he was a Northerner.
The Foundation issued a statement refuting Haruna Attah's claims that the late former vice-president Alhaji Aliu Mahama was prevented from succeeding former president Kufuor because he was a northerner. They said in their statement, "This betrayal and backstabbing behaviour exhibited by a senior member of the journalism industry is irritating and backward.”
In an earlier statement, Alhaji Haruna Attah affirmed President Mahama's assertion that the NPP only used Northerners and then dumped them. A statement which is still causing ripples in the party.
" I do recollect very clearly, as if it happened only yesterday, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo invited me to his office at Ridge near the offices of the Electoral Commission. I honoured the invitation, not knowing what to expect. The outcome was one of the most revealing encounters I have ever had with a Ghanaian politician. He raised a number of issues and concluded on my ‘support’ for the late vice president. On that, this is what he told me," Haruan Attah had earlier revealed.
The NPP is yet to issue a full response to Haruna Attah's claims.
