The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo has been hooted at and stoned by NDC supporters at the Manhyia junction in Kumasi.
Some supporters of the two major parties: NDC and NPP, hooted at each other’s flag bearer as President John Mahama and Nana Akufo-Addo made their way to the Asantehene’s palace on Thursday to mark the one-week death celebration of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s mother.
According to reports the NDC supporters did not stop there but went ahead to hurl stones and sachet water at the NPP flag bearer’s convoy.
Reports say it took the police to ensure law and order, as well as some sanity in the area.
Meanwhile, the NDC’s Deputy Ashanti regional Secretary Mr Kwame Zu denied the claims outright.
The Kumasi Traditional Council on Thursday, 24 November, performed the one-week rites for late Asantehemaa, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, who was the 13th Asante queen and died at the age of 111. She reigned for 39 years.
