A fire outbreak at Akwatia Line in the Ashanti Region has destroyed a dozen wooden shops close to the Asawase office of the National Democratic Congress(NDC).
The inferno, which started around 10 pm Sunday, November 27 burnt property and items estimated to be worth thousands of cedis.
Class FM's Hafiz Tijani reports that the most affected shops are the wood processing shops in the area.
According to some victims, the fire may have been started from sparks from faulty electrical cables.
By 9am Monday morning, personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) had managed to put out the fire.
Ashanti regional fire officer, Semekor Fiadzo blamed residents for engaging in illegal connections and leaving electrical gadgets on even when the equipment are not in use.
The firemen are yet to release an official report on the cause of the fire.
