Three police officials whose name could not be found in the voters register at the Tema West Constituency during the Special Voting exercise in the Greater Accra Region on Thursday reacted angrily, the Daily Graphic has reported.
The police officials verbally assaulted the Electoral Commission officials supervising the exercise at the Tema Community Two police station.
One of them, Mr Albert Amofa Adade, who said he had registered at Sakumono, described the EC officials at the constituency as incompetent.
A female official also threatened that there would be commotion if she did not get any explanation as to why her name was off the list, the report said.
The development mirrors the confusion that has plagued the Special Voting exercise across the country.
Hundreds of people, mostly journalists and members of the security services, who were expected to vote could not do so because their names were not on voters register.
Accordingly, they were turned away by EC officials. The situation has prompted many to question whether the EC can effectively organise the general election next week.
