Ms Affram, who was contesting on the ticket of the PPP in the Kwabre East Constituency announced her defection at a news conference citing corruption and breach of electoral laws by the PPP as reasons for her defection.

The PPP wants us to take pictures of our voting as evidence, this is contrary to our electoral laws,” she stated.

The Ashanti Regional Secretary of PPP, Bismark Tetteh expressed utter surprise at the exit of Ms Affram. "We were extremely shocked regarding the decision she has taken," he stated.

He was speaking at a news conference organised on Thursday to address the allegations by Ms Affram.

The party secretary vehemently denied all claims by the former parliamentary candidate and tasked her to provide evidence to back her claims. "She should give evidence to her claim that the Progressive People’s Party is corrupt… She has rather defected to a corrupt party," he fumed.

"In the case of Grace Affram, the party paid her filing fees and provided her T-shirts and a motorbike for campaign," he said, citing how the PPP has sponsored Ms. Affram in a bid to empower more youth and women to enter politics.
