New Patriotic Party flag-bearer, Nana Akufo Addo, dismissed rumors that he intends to move Ghana's capital city from Accra to Kyebi, in the Eastern Region.
Speaking on the Accra based radio station Peace FM, Nana Akufo Addo, dismissed rumors that his administration would move the country's capital to Kyebi, in the Easter Region.
These rumors stemmed from an allegedly leaked email between Akufo Addo, and another official of the NPP that's been circulated on social media suggesting that the NPP flag-bearer intended to move the nation's capital from Accra to his hometown of Kyebi.
“I don’t even send emails, he said," said the NPP presidential candidate. “I think some people don’t understand that you come unto the scene to work for the progress of the country. If you are from Bole, does that mean, you must only care about people from Bole?”
Nana Akufo-Addo also hinted at the possibility that the rumors and email may have have been orchestrated by his political opponents in an attempt to smear his reputation.
“It is a pity that our opponent, that is the level of engagement they want to bring to Ghanaian. It’s like they don’t respect Ghanaians. What will make me, within a short period of presidency, move the capital from Accra to Kyebi because I am from there.”
