President Mahama has said that the fake thumb-printed ballot papers found early Monday morning were an attempt by the New Patriotic Party to cause their supporters to revolt against a defeat in Wednesday's elections.
He stated that the NPP is creating the notion that the only way the National Democratic Congress (NDC) can win the elections is to rig it.
On Monday morning, there were reports of three bags of thumb-printed ballots in favour of President Mahama found in the Madison Hotel in Kumasi. However, the Ashanti Regional police command and the Electoral Commission directorate in the region have described the ballot sheets as fake.
President Mahama speaking on the issue stated that the fake ballots were part of an attempt to discredit the election result.
"They have been at this game since the inception of the electioneering. They keep accusing the EC for plotting to steal the vote for me, but I know it is just to create the impression that the NDC is going to rig the elections," he said.
President Mahama further added that, "In spite of all that, God keeps exposing them. Look at what they did today, they wanted to create the scene as though the NDC is thumb printing ballots but it turned out to be their own machination. I know God is alive and He is watching all these actions. God is not asleep."
