Police arrest man with GH¢83,000 in Central Region

The police is Assin South in the Central Region have arrested a driver who had tens of thousands of cedis in 35 “Ghana Must Go” bags in his bus.

Police say the man held a total of GH¢83,000 and was transporting to Kumasi from the Tantra bus station in Cape Coast.

The driver is said to have refused to tell the police officials his name and the name of the person he was transporting the money to.

The police quoted some passengers in the bus as saying the driver had been sent by one “chairman to another chairman in the Ashanti region”.

The case is said to have been transferred from Assin Fosu to the Cape Coast Regional police command.

Meanwhile, some passengers in the car have disputed the police’s claim that the money intercepted was GH¢83,000.

They said the money seized was significantly higher, according to a report by myjoyonline.com.
