Election 2016: Mahama beats Akufo-Addo at Nsawam prison

President John Dramani Mahama has beaten Nana Akufo-Addo in the presidential election at the Nsawam Prison.

Mahama, the candidate for the National Democratic Congress obtained 154 votes, while Nana Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) secured 117 votes.

Earlier, Mahama won the election at the Tamale Central Prison, 44 votes to Akufo-Addo's 31.

Mahama is seeking a second term, while Akufo-Addo is seeking to win the presidency on his third attempt.
