Provisional results from 17,559 polling stations (60.68%) out of 29,000 polling stations indicate that Nana Akufo-Addo, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is leading the 2016 presidential election with 3,589,131 votes, representing 55.70%.
His main challenger, John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has 2,762,548 votes representing 42.68%.
Votes from 11,508 polling stations (39.33%) are yet to come.
The results show that Akufo-Addo is leading Mahama by over 800,000 votes.
These results are provisional and have not been confirmed by the Electoral Commission, but that has not stopped members of the NPP from jubilating on Facebook.
