NPP calls on Mahama to concede the election to Akufo-Addo

The New Patriotic Party has called on President John Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to concede the presidential election to Nana Akufo-Addo.

At a press conference held by the party at about 1:50am on Thursday, Peter Mac Manu, the campaign manager of the Akufo-Addo campaign, said that with 80% of valid votes counted, Akufo-Addo is leading by 54%. He said Mahama has 43%.

According to him, there is no way Mahama can catch up, adding that is time for Mahama to concede.

"We are calling on the president to concede defeat," he said, to wild cheers from NPP supporters.
