Kojo Oppong Nkrumah wins Ofoase Ayeribi Constituency

Former broadcaster, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has won the Ofoase Ayeribi Parliamentary seat in the Eastern region under the ticket of the New Patriotic Party.

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah elected MP for Ofoase Ayeribi

He polled 17,141 votes to overwhelmingly defeat his rival.

The victory comes weeks after Nkrumah was called to the bar.

Meanwhile, provisional results indicate that with 80% of polling stations counted, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo, has increased his lead to 4,676,989, representing 54.91 percent.

President John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has 3,694,724 votes, representing 43.38 percent.

This means Akufo-Addo is leading by almost one million votes.

Other presidential candidates have 145,447 votes, representing 1.71 percent.
