Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije wins Ablekuma South constituency seat

Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, the Mayor of Accra and the head of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has won the parliamentary seat for the Ablekuma South constituency for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mr Alfred Vanderpuije raked in 19,984 votes against his rival Jerry Ahmed Shiab from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who pulled 16, 524 votes.

The other candidates, Goodman Baah of the National Democratic Party polled 9 votes while the Progressive People’s Party’s Ishmael Paa Kwesi Longdon polled 117 votes.

Provisional votes released showed the Independent candidate Abdullahi Obadia Squire got 49 votes, although the votes are yet to be certified by the Electoral Commission.
