NDC remains committed to due process - Asiedu Nketia

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) General Secretary, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has stated that the party remains confident that President John Dramani Mahama will remain in office come 2017, but will refrain from making any announcements of victory.

Addressing the media at the party headquarters, Mr. Asiedu called on all party stakeholders to remain calm in light of the current situation. He indicated that according to the party's internal vote collations, the NDC held a clear lead to victory.

He said: "We remain confident that if the trend we have observed continues, it is likely that His Excellency President Mahama will remain president," and , "So you can go home and cook your banku and akpele."

The NDC general secretary also touched on why the party has not made any announcements of victory, or concessions of defeat since voting ended at 5:00 o'clock on Wednesday, December 7th.

He said: "We are however unable to put out figures because of our commitments with the Peace Council, the Electoral Commission, and all other stakeholders," and that, "We are confident that the NDC is cruising to victory."
