The 7th session of Ghana’s parliament in the fourth Republic will see a number of new and vibrant faces as a large number of sitting lawmakers have been kicked out.
A lot of parliamentary giants from both the ruling National Democratic Congress and New Patriotic Party have suffered defeats
YEN.com.gh brings you some of the names that lost their seats in parliament.
Foreign Minister, Hannah Tetteh, Hon. Sena Okity-Duah, Nii Amassah Namaoale, Ernest Kofi Yakah, Deputy Minister of Education, Alex Kyeremeh, Alhaji Amadu Sorogho and Dr. Stephen Ato Arthur will not be returning to Parliament.
They’ll be replaced by Telecommunications expert, George Nenyi Andah, Former Joy FM presenter, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Clement Appak, Alhaji Boniface Saddique, Tina Mensah, Accra Mayor, Alfred Oko-Vanderpuije, Alhaji Hardi Tuferu, Samuel Atta- Mills, John Abdullai Jinapor, Ras Mubarak and Vincent Sowah Odotei.
The NPP currently have majority seats in the new parliament and will decide on who becomes speaker of parliament.
The ruling NDC has suffered losses even in several of their strong holds including the Volta Region.
