At times our job makes us do things we never thought we would be capable of doing, but since it’s our job, we can’t simply not do it.
But this family definitely takes the cake, and of course, it’s no ordinary family. This is the family of Tippi Hedren, Noel Marshall and little Melanie Griffith who, for the sake of their jobs, did the incredible: they lived several months with a lion.
This happened during the production of the film “Roar”, directed by Marshall himself and produced by Hedren.
The actress, known for her role in Alfred Hitchcock’s “The birds”, became a fierce animal rights activist while filming in Africa. It was for this reason that she wanted to do this movie, to raise awareness of the animal world.
During planning for the film, animal experts suggested the family live with a lion in order to get to know each other, so they shared their house with Neil.
Of course it wasn’t a completely perfect coexistence. Neil did lightly attack the family. In fact, filming of the movie was tainted by several lion attack incidents.
Fortunately, there were no major accidents and this time of shared coexistence remained saved for posterity.
And yes, “Roar” was a failure at the box office and with critics, I don’t think there is a family that can boast of having lived with a lion.
