Police in the Dunkwa-on-Offin in the Upper Denkyira East district in the Central Region have arrested a herbal medicine seller over the death of an NDC supporter.
According to the police, the accused, Alhassan Azamati who is a known a NPP supporter allegedly struck the head of the deceased Ayuba Akakpo with a stick during a heated argument after Nana Akuffo-Addo had been officially declared winner of the 2016 general elections.
The accused after the incident turned himself in to the police, and led them to scene of the incident. Ayuba had been rushed to the hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival before the police arrived on the scene.
Speaking to Joy News, the Upper Denkyira East police commander, Superintendent Dela Dzansi said that the scuffle was a result of conversation that started out as joke, but turned sour when tempers flared.

"It was a result of politics, who wins who lose, it was a kind of joking and joking and it turned into a quarrel between the two of them," the superintendent said.
He added that the NDC supporter's death was a result of friendly banter that took a nasty turn.
The accused, Alhassan Azamati has been remanded in custody, while the Attorney General is yet to name the next course of action.
