1. The green bananas

The sugar contained in the green bananas is not the same as that of the yellow banana that is ripe.

Green bananas have high starchy content which is healthy for those suffering from type 2 diabetes. The pro-biotic bacteria contained in the green banana also make them ideal for maintaining good colon health.

The nutrients in them can be easily absorbed. Some of the anti-oxidants contained in bananas may not be made available because of the level of ripeness.

2. Yellow bananas

As explained earlier, the starch in the green bananas get broken down into simple sugars when the banana becomes more ripened.

This means that the body can easily digest and absorb the needed sugars from the bananas. The antioxidant and the anti-cancer properties not available in the green bananas are found in the yellow bananas.

The bananas with dark spots or brown patches contain Tumor Necrosis Factor which helps fight malignant cells in the body. The darker the spots on the banana, the more effective it is in boosting the immune system.

Yellow bananas with dark patch help in boosting the property of the white blood cells. As healthy as yellow bananas are, it should be known that the micronutrients contained in bananas reduce or get lost when the banana ripens.
