President Elect, Nana Akufo Addo, made numerous promises on his campaign during the run-up to last week's general elections, and one of these campaign promises was that he'd tackle promises.

Speaking to the BBC's Akwasi Sarpong in an interview at his home in Accra, the New Patriotic Party's 2016 flag-bearer, now President Elect, stated that he intended to set an independent prosecutors office. When asked if he intends to prosecute people from the previous administration, President Elect Akufo Addo said that his intended administration had decided take the politics out of the issue as much as possible.
He said: "We have decided that, as much as possible, to take the politics out of it so that screams of which-hunting etcetera don't arise. I am establishing an Office of Special Prosecutor, somebody who will be independent of the executive, and who's remit will be to investigate and tackle issues of corruption."
