Pope John SHS dismisses two students for allegedly practicing homosexuality and initiating others

Pope John Senior High School and Minor Seminary has been thrown into a disarray after school authorities dismissed two students who allegedly engaged in homosexual activities on campus.

According to a report by StarrFMOnline.com, the disciplinary committee of the all-boys secondary institutions came to the decision after investigating claims that the two students were practicing the illegal act and also initiating other students.

The report continues that about 19 students were investigated in total but the school authorities only found reason to sack these two.

Starr FM claims that an official of the Ghana Educational Service and a teacher in the school confirmed the incident to their Western Regional correspondent.

According to the GES official, investigation is still underway with the involvement of their parents adding that punitive measures would be taken if the suspected students are found culpable.

However, Benedicta Foli, Headmistress of the school, has declined to comment further on the issue saying that it is an internal issue and will be resolved as such.

She failed to confirm the story, citing that issues affecting the school should not be discussed in public.

Ghanaian law does not explicitly state a punishment for homosexual activities but society frowns on people caught in the act and sometimes resort to beating and manhandling them.
