When she was 20 years old, Allison Noyce was told by doctors she had a premature menopause, and would never be able to have children naturally.
Fifteen years later, she went in a hurry to the doctor again, worried that she might have cancer, because of a lump she had in her stomach. Allison was in for a huge surprise, learning she was actually eight months pregnant!
Allison could never have predicted this outcome in her life. She calls Sophie her little “miracle baby”, whom she had at age 35.
"When I was younger my periods were very sporadic. But when I met my partner I went on the pill and they stopped all together," Allison said. When her period did not return after she went off the pill, her doctor did some blood tests, and discovered she was already going through the menopause.
"I had always wanted to be a mom,” she said. She and her husband had to come to terms with not having children.
The couple started travelling and doing all sorts of sports activities. Shortly after Allison finished a 40-mile bike ride, Allison began feeling unwell, and it was when she went to the hospital.

While getting a scan, a nurse suddenly told her “there's a big baby in there!” She gave birth 12 days later to a healthy 12 lbs baby girl. “We were totally overjoyed,” Allison said.
