Black doll is launched onto the market by the host of Wetv reality show

The beautiful curly haired doll wears clothes that traditional dolls do not wear.

The hairdresser and host of Wetv reality show has launched “My Natural Doll”. This launching was in order to insert a new element of fighting racism and increasing the self-esteem of black children.

During the months of April and July, a non-organizational institution — Avante — in Brazil conducted a survey. The conclusion was that out of 1,945 types of dolls, only 131 are black. But there’s still one question, considering the fact that the place where this research was done, more than 50% of the population is black: What kind of toy is there on the market today that a black child can identify with?

“The doll is an expression of the language. It is a way of symbolically express the things that surround us,” says Nina Veiga, PhD in Education at Waldorf.

This doll is being sold on the Internet. It costs US$ 165.00. It is very expensive for the current monetary situation of the country. But it is, for sure, a good tip for a Christmas gift.
