Kweku Baako points out reasons why the NDC lost the elections

Renowned journalist and editor-in-chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Kweku Baako Jnr has stated arrogance and complacency as two of the reasons why the out-going National Democratic Congress (NDC) government had lost the recent General Elections.

The general elections saw the NPP win a landslide victory, both in the president, and legislative contests. This has prompted many to question how the victory had happened, and how come it was not foreseen.

Speaking on Joy News/Joy FM news analysis program Newsfile on Saturday, Kweku Baako Jnr pointed out that the NDC's strategic dependence on President Mahama's Green Book - a book documenting all of President Mahama's achievements on infrastructure - was ill conceived.

He said: "They were complacent, they were over-confident; they were thinking that the projects that have been launched in the mighty Green Book were the magic wand that could win them the elections."

Referring to the NDC, he said, "If you look at the election results, particularly from the outcome of the parliamentary results, you realize that the Members of Parliament, the Parliamentary Candidates, the campaign team, the District Chief Executives, as well as the metropolitan and municipal groups, all went to bed,”
