The drastic reforms Rawlings will enforce in a defeated NDC ahead of election 2020

Ghana's knife-edged presidential elections are over with President Mahama suffering a major blow to his fiercest contender, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

4 drastic reforms Rawlings will enforce in NDC ahead of election 2020

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has faced severe bashing from its founder and former president Jerry Rawlings on matters of corruption scandals and complacency.

It all begun with the Woyome judgement debt case spiraling to the Atta Mills administration when Betty Mould Iddrisu was attorney general.

In fact, it could have been no surprise for Jerry Rawlings after the NDC suffered a deafening defeat. He indeed had already predicted the fate of the NDC in this video where he predicted an impending doom for the NDC in 2016.

So now the NDC has fallen victim to the prophecy of Jerry Rawlings - shifting them into an unexpected opposition party for the next 4 years.

In the span of these 4 years in opposition, Rawlings now has the absolute voice to "clean up the mess" in his party. This could mean retiring all the "babies with sharp teeth" and replacing them with the true and experienced technocrats who he (Rawlings) believes know the true ideals of the NDC.

Few weeks after the elections, calls have been made for President Mahama to come back and contest Nana Addo in the 2020 elections. But considering the tension within the party, it's unsure if he stands the chance to do so.

Whatever the reforms of J.J Rawlings might be, it does seem to mean that he could employ vigorous measures to ensure that his party comes back to the ideals he put in place 24 years ago.
