From all indications, the party which controlled majority in parliament with the incumbent president was totally shocked by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's win over John Dramani Mahama and the number of parliamentary seats that were lost to the opposition party.
This shock has resulted in a lot of blame-sharing and finger-pointing in the party and the latest of such explanations comes from Godwin Boboobi, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti region. He linked the party’s defeat in the just-ended elections to its failure to vigorously campaign.

Mr. Boboobi stated that the Ashanti Regional campaign team in particular operated with a divided front with no clear cut on how the campaign was to be conducted. “I was not comfortable with the Ashanti Regional Campaign team. In fact we did not campaign at all and were not on the ground compared to the New Patriotic Party”, he stated.
According to him, the party leaders were divided and this affected now the NDC coordinated campaign efforts.
He reiterated that the only time the party executives in the Ashanti Region were seen working was when either President John Dramani Mahama or the Deputy Chief of Staff visited the region.
“We did not campaign at all and were not on the ground. Our campaigns were not also properly coordinated aside failing to honour a number of promises which resulted in voter apathy. It looks like some persons maybe tired being in government because they had amassed a lot for themselves and decided to enjoy what they acquired in opposition”, he intimated.
