The president-elect Nana Akufo-Addo has bemoan the devastating effect of the gas filling station explosion that occurred on Thursday, December 22 which claimed about 9 lives and has left several others with serious injuries.
Not long after the news of the explosion broke, Nana Addo took to his Facebook page to express his condolences to the families of the deceased and offered his sympathies to those who sustained injuries in the explosion and wished them speedy recovery.
Nana Addo said the tragic event has brought to mind the need to re-examine the locations for where such structures are set up, as well the need to enforce safety regulations.
He said in his statement, "It is about time we take a second look at the citing of gas stations in our country, and ensure the strict enforcement of, and adherence to safety regulations, so as to forestall the occurrence of any more of such avoidable incidents."
Authorities have said that the death toll could rise as the fire spread to a number of homes near the site of the explosion.
