On Thursday, December 22, a gas tanker exploded at the Louis gas filling station on the La Trade Fair road,which led to several casualties as well caused damage to many properties.
While the cause of the explosion is still being investigated by the police, so far about 9 people were reportedly killed in the explosion, while over 30 people sustained various degrees of burn injuries.
On Friday, in the aftermath of the tragedy, several residents of the La general area trooped to the scene of the accident, hoping to catch a glimpse of the damage that was left in the wake of the explosion.
Some residents who were not in the vicinity at the time of the explosion interacted with others who were present, to gain more information about the events surrounding the terrible tragedy.

President Mahama and president-elect Nana Akufo-Addo have both extended their sympathies to the victims and families of the lives lost in the fire, and government has promised to handle the medical expenses for the victims.
