Call it a battle between West African music genres, and you won’t be wrong. Ghanaian musician Bullet recently showed the world how a lot of African musicians feel about our music.
In the now viral video, Bullet is seen shouting at the event organizer about why he would play Nigerian music at a Ghanaian show. He specifically mentions pop duo P Square telling the man that they do not even know he exists, yet he is playing their music.

This is not the first time Nigerian music has received this kind of reception in Ghana and other African countries. Allegedly, Ghanaian group R2Bees once refused to go on stage at an event because the amount they were offered to perform was very little compared to their Nigerian counterparts.
Also in Kenya, radio stations were warned not to play too much Nigerian music because they were allegedly over shadowing Kenyan songs.
But it’s not our fault that fans from other African countries love our songs. After all, we have the biggest music industry on the continent. So to those who are offended by the rise of Nigerian music, no vex, keep doing what you do and you’ll be sure to get the recognition you deserve.
