Retired Supreme Court Justice Professor Justice V.C.R.A.C Crabbe, who is The Commissioner of the statute law review commission, has stated that an elected president can choose to disregard a campaign promises proves to go against the interest of the nation.

The retired supreme court judge added that the directive principle for state policies and a national development plan should be the main guide to any presidency, not the urge to fulfill campaign promises.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Parliamentary training Institute at Parliament House, Justice Crabbe advised governments to not discontinue projects of outgoing governments just as a matter of course.

He implored Members of Parliament (MP) to be independent from the executive branch of government and vote on issues based on their own understanding and not only along party lines.
