Two little girls 9-year-old and 13-year-old were accused of "witchcraft"

- Two underage girls were tortured for allegedly being witches

- They were beaten and whipped for two weeks until one of them passed away

- Three suspects were detained and would punished in accordance with Nigerian laws

Three men were arrested on suspicion of confining and torturing two young girls, aged 9 and 13, for two weeks that led to death of one of the girls.

James Awak, Adamu Zakka and Hannatu Awak beat and whipped their victims, rubbed some liquid substances into their skin and used a screwdriver to inflict deep injuries.

Nine year old Abigail Lara died following the torture and was buried in an unmarked grave.

The incident was made public in a press statement signed by the Public Relations Officer Ahmed Usman.

The suspects have already been taken to court where they would be prosecuted and punished under Nigerian laws.

Children and babies have been branded as evil are being mistreated, abandoned, and murdered in societies that harbour beliefs about the existence of witches and black magic.
