President-elect Nana Akufo-Addo has pledged to fulfill a campaign promise to relocate the headquarters of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) to the Western Region.
Akufo-Addo told the Western Regional House of Chiefs that his plan to make the region the hub of oil and gas in Ghana would also be implemented when he takes office.
He said this as he thanked the chiefs for their support ahead of the December elections.

Calling for their fervent prayers as he takes power to lead Ghana for four years, Akufo-Addo pledged to fulfill all his campaign pledges to the region.
“…pledges of one-district-one factory is going to happen live; modernisation of the Takoradi Harbour is going to be done; construction of an accident and emergency centre in Takoradi is on plan,” he said.
The president elect added that the modalities for the creation of his proposed “Western- North Region ‘ will be prepared and put to a referendum during the next district assembly elections in 2018.
