Alhaji Mohammed Mubrak Muntaka, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Asawase, will retain his leadership role for the party when the seventh parliament of the fourth republic is sworn into office on January 7, 2017.

But instead of his position as the majority chief whip, Muntaka will now be the minority chief whip, as his party begins life in the opposition.
The MP for Banda, Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim, will also maintain his leadership position for the NDC minority in parliament.
Meanwhile the MP for Nadowli/Kaleo, Alban Sumana Bagbin, is expected to be named to the position of 2nd deputy speaker.

Bagbin, who is currently the majority leader and leader of government gusiness in the Sixth Parliament, was elevated to the position following a consensus reached by NDC MPs on the majority side who retained their seats, according to a report by Accra-based Kasapa FM.
