Ghana declared "no fly zone" following fierce harmattan, all flights cancelled

The harmattan season is here with us again. But this time, strong and fierce! The hazy and foggy weather has caused all international and domestic airlines to temporarily suspend all flights due to poor visibility - a development which has seen several passengers stranded at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

Ghana declared "no fly zone" following fierce harmattan, all flights cancelled

The harmattan is feared to have intensified in Accra on Tuesday as many international flights have been redirected to neighbouring Abidjan in Cote d'Ivoire and Lagos in Nigeria on Wednesday.

For example, a Delta Airlines flight which was coming to Accra Wednesday morning from JFK in New York was redirected to Lagos.
