The Ghana Medical and Dental Council has recommended the arrest of Dr. Dominic Obeng Andoh, a cosmetic surgeon based in Accra.
On Wednesday Dr. Obeng, accompanied by his lawyer and his pastor, Rev. Owusu Bempah, presented himself at the police station where he was questioned, and subsequently granted police enquiry bail.
According to investigations conducted by the Medical and Dental Council, Dr. Dominic Obeng - CEO of Obengfo Hospital - is not a certified surgeon, making his medical practice illegal according to Section 35 of the Medical and Dental Council's regulations.
"Dr. Obeng has not renewed his registration over the years," said Dr. Eli Atikpui, Registrar of the Medical and Dental Council on Wednesday.

The investigations were prompted by complaints from one of Dr. Obeng's patients. A procedure that was only supposed to remove fat from her belly area and that cost her GHC 12, 000, left her deformed instead.
Dr. Obeng, though, continues to insist that he received two week's training in cosmetic surgery in Florida, USA, and was awarded a certificate for his participation. According to Dr. Obeng, he is held in high esteem by his patients.
This is not the first time Obengfo Hospital has come under public scrutiny. Joy News's Seth Kwame Boateng and Manasseh Azure Awuni had investigated Dr. Dominic Obeng's medical activity in 2013. An investigation that the Weija based surgeon described as "fake, libelous, unfortunate and disappointing." on Obengfo Hospital's Facebook page.
Prior to Joy News's exposé, Dr. Obeng was suspended by the Medical and Dental Council due advertising and billboards he erected that were contrary with professional regulations.
