President John Dramani Mahama has been conferred the title of ‘promise-keeper’ by the Yilo Krobo Traditional Authorities.

The president was conferred the title when he cut sod for the construction of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development, otherwise known simply as Eastern University in Somanya.
The establishment of a university in the Eastern Region was a major campaign promise for John Mahama when he successfully run for his first time of office in 2012.

However, earlier this month, the president lost emphatically in the polls with the governing National Democratic Congress party also losing its majority in Parliament.
The president’s new title comes about a week to the end of his administration. President-elect Nana Akufo-Addo takes over the reins of power on January 7, 2017.
