President Elect, Nana Qkufo Addo, has hinted that Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto could potentialy be Ghana's next Minister of Agriculture when he takes over the reigns of government on January 7th.
Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, an experienced farmer who holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics from Cambridge University, UK, is currently the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) spokesperson on agriculture and - according to the President Elect - will likely become the next Minister of Agriculture.
“The Kumasi people will recognise Amadu Baba of Kwame Nkrumah’s time, he had a great friend in the Asantehene’s Kyeame, (senior linguist), Baffour Akoto, this is his son who is the Member of Parliament for Kwadaso today, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto."

"He is our spokesperson on Agriculture and if the Parliament will pass him, he is likely to be the Minister of Agriculture,” said Nana Akufo Addo.
Dr. Akoto will not be part of Ghana's 7th parliament come the December 7th inauguration date, having lost the re-election bid for his parliamentary seat to Dr S. Kwadwo Nuamah, a lecturer at the University of Ghana.
President Elect, Nana Akufo Addo, made his comments when he received a delegation of some Zongo chiefs at his Nima Residence in Accra.
