Former President, H.E Jerry John Rawlings has condemned the recent violent clashes reported in the media between supporters of the National Democratic Congress and their rivals New Patriotic Party at Suhum in the Eastern Region.

Mr Rawlings who is also the founder of the NDC in a statement described these post-elections as uncalled for.
According to him, reports of clashes need to be investigated immediately by police authorities.
“It is important that the police investigate the root cause of the violence and apprehend and prosecute all responsible. People should not be allowed to take the law into their hands in the name of politics,” he said.

On Monday, January 3, a group of party supporters from both sides were said to have clashed in Suhum with members of both teams suffering injuries.
According to the Suhum police, the injured are currently receiving treatment at the Suhum Government Hospital.
