Nana Akufo-Addo has been sworn-in as the fifth president of the Republic of Ghana at the Black Star Square (Independence Square).
His swearing in follows the inauguration at midnight of January 6, 2017, of a new Speaker of Parliament, Prof Mike Oquaye, to administer the affairs of the 7th Parliament.

Also, sworn-in office is vice president Dr Bawumia. He tweeted: “I have just taken the Oath of Office as the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana. Alhamdulillah. Allahu Akbar.”
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is a legal luminary, politician and a businessman. He won the 2016 polls after trying for the third time. He contested and lost in 2008 and 2012. Nana Addo was elected three times between 1996 and 2008 as Member of Parliament for the Abuakwa South constituency in the Eastern region of Ghana. He served his nation from 2001 to 2007 as Cabinet Minister, Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, and later as Foreign Minister during the government led by President John Agyekum Kufuor.
