Some persons, believed to be members of the ruling New Patriotic Party have reportedly stormed the Tema Harbour, demanding to be given control of some main installations at the facility.
The unruly supporters are demanding that all national security operatives manning the Golden Jubilee terminal, Reefer and Atlas yards be withdrawn for them to take over.
According to reports by Starr News, the supporters had thronged the harbour and had remained there ever since Nana Akfo-Addo was inaugurated as Ghana's president.
The Tema Police Command have reportedly been notified of the issue and are making efforts to resolve the situation.
Meanwhile, in Tamale, some NPP youth also allegedly took over the facilities of the NHIS and the Youth Enterprise Agency.
Since the NPP won the 2016 general elections, there have reports of nationwide takeovers of state facilities by NPP supporters. However, President Akufo-Addo called for calm and demanded that such actions cease.
