Police in the Northern Region have foiled the attempt of some youths - believed to be members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) - to takeover the offices of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in Sagnerigu and Tamale.
According to reports the group of young people, numbering about 30, stormed the NHIS offices in the Northern Region on Monday in an attempt to take it over even though their efforts to remove workers you were already there were foiled by the timely arrival of the police.
Although though their attempt to takeover the offices were foiled, they nevertheless demanded that the directors of the scheme vacate their offices by Tuesday.

According to workers, the the group of youths warned workers in the offices not to come back to work.
“They said we should not come to work from tomorrow,” said an NHIS staff member who didn't want to be named to 3news.com's Zubaida Ismail.
As things stand , police officers have been stationed at various state institutions, including those of National Disaster and Management Organisations (NaDMO) in order to discourage further attacks on the various institutions in the Northern Region.
