Former President John Agyekum Kufuor is of the view that former presidents should be allowed to choose where they want to live.
It comes as former President John Mahama requests that his official bungalow at Cantonments be made his retirement home.
Mahama's request has provoked outrage on social media, especially in view of reports that President Nana Akufo-Addo has agreed in principle to hand the house to Mahama.
Frank Agyekum, the spokesman for Kufuor, told Accra-based 3 FM that his boss believes that Mahama must have a say in where he wants to live.
“What’s at stake is that president Mahama has made a choice and that is how it should be. The president must choose and there should be negotiations.
“All this things are done for the dignity of the office, not the individual. So whether you like the person or not, the office must be honored and president Kufour’s view is that the president must have a choice in where he wants to stay but he leaves it to the government to decide," he said.
