The Central Regional chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress Allottey Jacobs, has said the party let down John Mahama when he needed it most.

According to Jacobs, the president’s bid for re-election was unsuccessful because of complacency one the part of some the party’s parliamentary candidates.
“We have all let Mahama down, from top to the bottom. It should be a great lesson to us. He really did his best. There might be some mistakes, wrong decisions and policies that the people might not have understood, but as election machinery that NDC is well noted for, it failed Mahama this time drastically.

“Some of the NDC candidates were complacent. They thought Mahama had done too much work thinking the citizenry will vote massively for him. Letting the former President down is the pain we are all engulfed with now,” he said.
President John Mahama lost the December 2016 elections to the New Patriotic Party’s Nana Akufo-Addo with over 1 million votes.
The party also lost its majority in Parliament.
