La gas explosion: Alan Kyeremanteng loses sister

Alan Kyeremanteng, the trade minister designate has reportedly lost his sister who was a victim of the La Trade Fair gas explosion last year.

Starr FM reports that family sources disclosed the news that Brigitte Kyeremanteng-Darko passed away on Wednesday morning. She was married to Mr. Darko of GC-Net.

Her death brings the total number of casualties from the explosion to 12, with over 40 persons sustaining various degrees of injuries.

While the full conclusions of the investigation into the cause of the explosion is not confirmed, preliminary results indicated the cause of the explosion due to negligence on the part of the station operators.

While emptying a gas tank on Thursday, December 22 2016, the machine caught fire, igniting the electric cables nearby which caused the explosion, and left the area around the site destroyed.
