The Ghana statistical service is meeting with the transition team of government as part of efforts to settle on a substantive government statistician.

Currently a deputy statistician, Baah Wadie is in an acting position after Dr. Philomena Nyarko retired but according to the transition act all boards including that of the service will be dissolved.

Meanwhile, the incoming finance minister, Ken Ofori Atta, is expected to inaugurate a new board after his vetting on January 7. The meeting is also expected to brief the team on the work of the service so far. It will also talk about the inflation rate which currently stands at 15.4 percent.
