President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has instructed that all Metropolitan Municipal and District Chief executives across the country vacate their post with immediate effect, according to Starrfmonline.com
According to a copy of the letter sighted by the website, all the MMDCEs across the country have been asked to handover to their Coordinating directors.
“By virtue of article 243 (3)(b) of the constitution of the republic, H.E the president of the republic has revoked the appointment of all MMDCEs with immediate effect. In this regard, all MMDCEs are directed to handover their relevant duties to MMCDs for further instruction.”
The MMDCEs were appointed under the former Mahama-led administration.
The directive from the President indicates that new MMDCEs are likely to be appointed within the shortest possible time.
The President has already appointed 36 ministers designate who will be vetted by the appointments committee of parliament from January 20.
